MAD HATTERS’ MISSION STATEMENT – 2006 & BEYOND.
With the dust only just settling from the hiatus that was 2005 and as our fourth birthday draws ever closer all we can say is, what happened?
The year has seen some spectacular nights, with truly inspirational music provided by the likes of Jesse Rose, DJ Raoul, Dom Cappello, Justin Long, Miles Maeda, Buckley, James Holroyd, Slum Science, D’Julz, Ashley Beedle, Chris Duckenfield and of course the ever-present residents Craig Barnes and Frenchy doing the business for the Mad Hatters faithful every month.
All the Mad Hatters crew would like to say a big thank you to all people involved and of course the very special crowd who travel from afar every month to participate in the chaos! It is they who have made it possible for the party to continue and we feel privileged to be able to showcase the DJs and music we care so much about to keep the acid house spirit alive in 2005 and beyond.
2006 is looking exciting already with the legendary Back to Basics taking up home at the Peephouse and bringing with it a massive refurbishment, a new sound system, 24hr licensing and a new name to boot; from February onwards the Peephouse will be known as My House. The transformation of the venue is underway now and it is set to become one of the most unique venues in the country. We love the venue and its character and with a bit of TLC it really is going to be exceptional.
In terms of the night, we are feeling more positive than ever. We are still getting the DJs on that we feel are pioneering the best and most cutting edge music of the moment, to a clued-up, loyal and crazy crowd, and you can’t ask for more than that.
We are starting 2006 as we mean to go on. Here is what we have got lined up so far:
Jan 27th: Kenny Hawkes
Feb 24th: Halo
Mar 31st: Dom Cappello
Apr 28th: 4th Birthday with very special guest to be confirmed
All at Mad Hatters wish you a great 2006 and we look forward to working with you in the future. Look out for exclusive ‘Live at Mad Hatters’ mixes going up on our website at www.madhatproductions.com in February.
Here are some comments from previous guests we have had on:
Domenic Cappello (Sub Club):
“Best night I’ve played outside the Sub Club in years. Every proper house DJ worth his salt should DJ for half their fee just to get a chance to play to this crowd. It’s a faith restorer of a night”.
Chris Duckenfield (Swag):
“A real surprise for me, and Leeds! We were totally blown away by the venue, and the crowd had all the spirit we’ve come to expect from Basics regulars and Leeds clubbers alike. We doff our caps to Mad Hatters”.
Jesse Rose (Frontroom/Dubsided):
“Mad Hatters is one of best club nights in the country. The clued up crowd are always up for a party and the resident Frenchy is for sure on the money. Long may the night continue, if only for the sanity of real house music”.
Justin Long (Dot Bleep – Chicago):
“Hats off to the hatters posse holding down the underground in the north”.
James Holroyd (Basics):
“Playing there is an absolute winner: smart, intimate venue and a crazy, clued up crowd ramming the Dance floor. Dark, sleazebox, decks on the dancefloor. A perfect place for raising your game. Like its big brother long may it live!”
DJ Raoul (Swirl People):
“Already twice I was really pleasantly surprised by the great vibes that this night always brings! One of the top house nights in the UK for sure, I love playing at Mad Hatters!”
Laurence Ritchie (Inland Knights):
“Wicked little club on two levels with an interesting layout. It’s full of nutters, great sound system and lots of fun, always look forward to playing there. A night where people go for the music first”.
Eddie Leader (Slum Science):
”Mad Hatters stands out to us as one of the best house nights we’ve played at. The guys behind it are in it for the right reasons and are playing a big part in keeping the underground house scene alive”.
